Fort Collins CommUnity Acupuncture is one of our Seize the Deal offers, and they were gracious enough to allow me to come and try it out. Since I had never been, I wasn't really sure what to expect. The experience was pretty much painless and remarkably relaxing.

The intake process was very simple. I went to their website and printed out the forms and filled them out on my own time. They asked the standard medical intake questions about history, symptoms, etc. I had a little tweak in my neck, but beyond that, I was there for preventative reasons.

Fort Collins Community Acupuncture is based on the fairly new Community model, where patients are all in a community treatment room. This is what makes it quite affordable. There are different comfortable chairs and a massage table that I could choose from. When I was comfortable, my provider just did her thing.

I felt some of the needles she inserted, and others had almost no sensation at all. It was fascinating how a feeling of pressure was generated from a needle that barely went below the surface of the skin. There were a few needles, especially in my foot, that had obviously found and were tapping into one of my body's energy channels.

As she worked on me, we chatted, she asked questions about pressure, if I could feel the needles, if they hurt or caused a burning sensation. By the time she was 3/4's of the way finished, I was in a state of complete relaxation. It's the kind of relaxation that can only be found on a massage table, or in some other setting that is all about finding some relief for oneself. After she walked away, I fell into a very light, yet dream-filled sleep. I lay there relaxed until I decided it was time to arise.

Walking out, I can't put my finger on what it did for me, except to say that I know it did something. I, like everyone else, deal with the daily stresses of existence, and I know that I felt less stressed after my treatment. I felt wonderful because I had just done something that was 100% focused on making me feel better. May we all do such things for ourselves. Whatever it was, it felt great and I am going to go back for sure.
