I don't buy North Face products because I want people to see the label.
I buy it because it is a label I trust (that red jacket is my go to ski jacket).
I know I could be facing sub-zero temperatures. Actually, I hope I will be facing sub-zero temperatures. I want there to be so much snow that I can't see, and I love when it is just cold enough to keep most people off the slopes. The powder is then all ours.
North Face, in my experience has always delivered as advertised. That's why I was bummed to hear that the founder passed away in a kayaking accident.
Douglas Tomkins was 72, way to young to die, because I'm sure he had a lot of exploring ahead of him.
