One of the great things to do during the summer in Colorado is whitewater rafting on the Poudre River outside of Fort Collins. A legendary rafting company that has been around for nearly three decades has had a concert venue, as well.

How Long Has Paddler's Pub Been in Fort Collins Each Summer?

Paddler's Pub at Mountain Whitewater is located just west of Shields Street on Highway 287 in north Fort Collins. Mountain Whitewater began operations around 2000; started by an adventure with a love of people and the rapids. 11 years later, the company added a pub.

I've been to Paddler's Pub, not after whitewater rafting, but after disc golfing in LaPorte. The pub sits on 13 acres; there's plenty of space to unwind, take in the views, have a beer, and there's been a stage where live music happens. It seems like it all may going away after years of struggling to meet conditions set by Larimer County.

Why Is Paddler's Pub in Jeopardy of Going Away?

For years, Brad Modesitt, owner of Paddler's Pub at Mountain Whitewater, has battled with Larimer County about the restrooms situation. Bottom line: Larimer County wants the pub to be connected to local sewer about 1.5 miles away. The cost of which, is a near unsurmountable amount of money.

In a Facebook post, Brad summed it up:

Paddler’s Pub will NOT have live music this summer.
...The ship hasn’t sunk yet, but we are preparing the life rafts.
Thanks for the 16 years of support With Paddler’s Pub and 27 with Mountain Whitewater. You are the lifeblood that fuels us to keep wading through all of this. At some point we will be able to share a beer, a giggle and a sunset with you. I hope that is soon.
I reached out and was informed by Paddler's Pub that they will be opening for the 2026 season on May 15th; you may want to stop by before it's too late.
