One Man Dead at Police Shooting in Fort Collins This Morning
A man was shot and killed by a Fort Collins Police officer in North Fort Collins this morning.
Fort Collins Police Services responded to a call made at 4:50 a.m. to the 1800 block of North College Avenue at the America's Best Value Inn. The caller stated that he heard a loud noise and then saw a hole appear in the ceiling above. When officers arrived, they tried to make contact with the suspect, but the man opened the door holding a firearm, according to LCSO. The officer fired on the man. There were no other injuries at the scene.
The name of the suspect and the officer involved has not been released at this time.
The Loveland Police Department is taking the lead on the investigation and the Sheriff's office is handling public information for the incident.
