Growing up in Colorado can be a great experience, with all that the state has to offer. Getting a good education is what parents want for their kids as they grow; when it comes to the Fort Collins area, how do the school districts stack up?

Who Came Up with the List of 2026 Best School Districts in Northern Colorado?

Since 2002, Niche, originally College Prowler, has been researching and providing information and recommendations about education and neighborhoods. in 2026, they released their data for the Top School Districts in Colorado.

From Niche:

Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality, public school district ratings, and more.

SAT/ACT scores have been removed from this year's rankings to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process.

One of the 6 Northern Colorado School District Does Not Make Colorado's Top 60

As I scrolled the list of Colorado's best, #1-60, I was looking for familiar Northern Colorado school districts, more than a few popped up within that 60. Greeley-Evans District 6, however, did not make the top 60, though it did receive a B- Overall Grade.

Two Northern Colorado School Districts Make Top 20 For Colorado

Both the Eaton School District and the Weld RE-4 School District made it into the top 20 of 60 for 2026. Eaton High has also seen success in sports, with three football players going on to play in the NFL (Austin Ekeler, Trent Sieg, and Mitch Unrein.)
