Northern Colorado Favorite For Frozen Treats Abruptly Closes Down
"Frozen Hot Cocoa is Back! For a Limited Time Only!" reads the cover photo on the Facebook page, posted on November 4, just a couple weeks ago.
"Limited time" indeed, as it appears the shop had actually completely closed down as of Sept 30, more than a month earlier.
Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard at 250 E. Harmony Rd in Fort Collins posted a "Rita's Closing Sale" event, letting customers know they would be shutting the business down after 6 1/2 years open in the south part of town. It was a five day day event on Facebook, dated Sep 26-30.
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the closing of our business, Ritas Italian Ice. After 6 1/2 years of operation, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their tireless effort and hard work.We would also like to express our appreciation to our customers for their trust and support over the years. While we are saddened by the closure of Ritas Italian Ice, we are grateful for the memories, relationships, and experiences we have gained throughout the years. We will cherish these moments as we move forward.Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey.
But if you've followed them on social media, they've made a few posts since, leading to some confusion among their followers.
The likely scenario is that much of the social media content is pushed out by the parent company, as Rita's is a franchise. Somebody at corporate must not have gotten the memo that this was location was closed down.
Sad, but true!
