New School in Loveland Will Be a Part of the Poudre District
You read that headline correctly. Slated for a 2021 opening, this elementary school's students will be Poudre kids, not Thompson kids.
I came across this information as I saw a Reporter-Herald article about how the Poudre School District has announced who'll be principal a the new Loveland school.
'What the what?' I said aloud. 'A Loveland school should be a part of the Thompson R2-J district, guys.'
It just comes down to grids on a map. This school is going to in the very northeast portion of Loveland, in the vicinity of the intersection of County Road 5 (Fairgrounds Avenue) and County Road 30. That puts the school within the PSD zone.
Heck, it's almost in Windsor. That would really befuddle things.
This is the first time a school with a Loveland address will be in the Poudre School District. But, according to the Reporter-Herald, there are two schools in the Thompson School District that have Fort Collins addresses.
