5 New Laws Coming to Colorado in 2020
Here's a summary of several new laws that are taking effect on January 1, 2020 in Colorado.
Price Cap for Insulin - House Bill 19-1216
This law ensures that people with diabetes don't have to pay more than $100 a month for medication.
Minimum wage - House Bill 19-1210
January 1, 2020 the minimum wage will go up from $11.20 to $12.00 an hour.
Mental Health Care - House Bill 1269
Starting in January, residents of Colorado will be able to go in for mental health issues in the same way they go in for a physical checkup. The bill also requires the cost to be consistent with a physical checkup.
Red Flag Law - House Bill 19-1177
Also known as the Extreme Risk Protection Order, this allows a judge to seize someones weapons that is deemed a threat to themselves or others.
Some counties have declared themselves 2nd amendment sanctuary counties, meaning that they don't plan to enforce the new law.
Out-of-Network Healthcare Services - House Bill 19-1267
This law will prevent medical providers for sending "surprise medical bills" directly to patients. In a lot of cases patients who visit in-network facilities and use their health insurance still get "out-of-network" bills.
