This is not an April Fool's joke - I want to add that disclaimer right up front.

The annual NFL meetings are happening in Florida, and Denver Broncos CEO Greg Penner spilt some tea on their plans for what will eventually become the new Sunday home of the team, assuming they do eventually leave the site where the old Mile High Stadium and current Empower Field at Mile High sits just west of I-25 in Downtown Denver.

The team has before mentioned alternative cities like Lone Tree, but now they've added a new city to the discussion: Aurora.

Penner told reporters at the meetings yesterday that "we want to create what’s the best option for the next 40 or 50 years, not 10 or 20 years," leading many to believe it's not a matter of if but when they ultimately build a new facility for the team rather than try to again renovate the current digs in Denver.

One item also being not-so-much whispered about, but discussed matter of factly is whether or not the new vision for Broncos football games might include either a retractable roof or a permanent dome. While on the surface it sounds disappointing to fans who've loved to attend a game or two in the snow every now and again, what it does do is eliminate weather as a factor in important games down the stretch, but even bigger than that, creates the opportunity for the State of Colorado to host a Super Bowl somewhere down the road - something the league would almost certainly jump at if we had a solid, weather proof stadium to host it.
