A sad day for the Ptarmigan community just west of Windsor on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, as Larimer County Sheriff deputies reported to a shooting.

There aren't many details, but Larimer County Sheriff's Office said on October 15 that there was/is no threat to the community in the finding of the two persons found deceased as the result of gun shot wounds.

According to the report, Reba Pitcher, 91, died of multiple gunshot wounds; her death was ruled a homicide by the coroner. William Pitcher, 92, died of a single gunshot wound to the head; his death was ruled a suicide.

Their home is located off Larimer County Road 3 and Vardon Way in the Ptarmigan community, west of Windsor.

Being in their 90s, one has to hope that this was a heartbreaking mutual decision, one where they both agreed to 'go together.'
