If your morning or evening commute has anything to do with being downtown Fort Collins and heading out to I-25 - or vice versa - things are about to get a little challenging beginning the first day of June.

The city will be starting some concrete repairs ahead of a larger paving project set to begin later this summer, and as a result, there will be multiple lane closures on E. Mulberry Ave between S. College Ave and Riverside, a major artery in and out of downtown Fort Collins to and from I-25.

This first part of the project will last roughly the entire month of June, as they work to prepare that section of Mulberry for a complete re-paving, which will begin in July.

For this first phase of the job, multiple lane shifts and some closures will be ongoing between College and Riverside allowing them to repair the concrete. Traffic patterns will frequently shift as they make their way down the street and commuters should expect delays during heavier commute times and hours when they are working.

The crews will be working from 6 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday, but could also work outside of those hours as needed due to weather delays, etc.

The additional impacts of what will happen during Phase 2 - the repaving portion of the project in July - have yet to be announced. They are expected to announce the impacts of the second phase after the first phase is complete.

Access to local businesses on that stretch of Mulberry will remain open during the construction.
