Awkward: Married Colorado Couple Find Out That They’re Actually Cousins

This will be a story that they'll be sharing around the Thanksgiving dinner for years to come. Wat would you do if you found out that your spouse was a cousin of yours?

Nearly 10 years after taking their vows, this couple found that they were having a wonderful time, but were related, thanks to a DNA test. How many couples across the country have found out the same thing?? It seems that that they're taking it all in stride, however, and not only for their kids.

This Colorado couple, from the Westminster area, must have been flabbergasted when the DNA test came back with the most-unexpected news: That they're cousins. According to Insider.com and People, Celina Quiñones was concerned about the findings, at first. Then, Celina and her husband, Joseph, decided to move on from the findings, and stayed together.

The DNA test was from MyHeritage.com, which today, charges about $50 for the test; the Quiñones took the test in 2016, after they'd been married about a decade. The couple have three kids together.

HOW CLOSELY RELATED ARE CELINA AND JOSEPH?

Celina notes that the test determined that they are between 2nd and and 7th cousins. To me, 2nd seems really close; you think someone in their "known" families would have known and said something. That's neither here nor there now, as the couple has remained married since finding out 7 years ago, as their marriage approaches the 20-year mark.
