Loveland is famous for its Valentine Remailing Program, and its amount of sculptures; as of 2026, folks who love a "this day is.." calendar will see the Colorado town featured for something different, right on the cover.

In today's age of "all things digital," I, for one, still get a lot of use out of wall calendars. I like to flip through the year, jotting things down ahead of time; they help to keep me at least a little more organized. I'm guessing I'm not alone, as research shows wall calendars are a $1.5 billion industry, worldwide.

Being in radio, we use 'This Day is National [blank] Day' a lot for our shows. It is fun to stop for a second to recognize that, say, October 14 is 'Be Bald and Be Free Day,' for example. It somehow brings us all closer together: "Ooh, look what today is," as you stop by the calendar getting the kids ready for school, or you're on your way out the door to work, bringing some "water cooler conversation" with you.

National Tailgating Day Makes National Day Calendar

National Tailgating Day was created by Loveland's Luke Lorick in 2016, and celebrated for the first time on the first Saturday of September that year, September 3, 2016, and every first Saturday of September, thereafter. With the 10th year of National Tailgating Day being in existence, the day is one of only eight days featured on the cover of that printed wall calendar.

Of course, Luke sits with a crown and a "thrown," as his the nation's Tailgating Champion.
