So Long, Frosty – Loveland’s Oldest Wendy’s Closes
When a burger joint in Colorado has been around for so long, you think it's going to be there, forever. That would not be the case for the first Wendy's to have opened in Loveland.
Why Did the Eisenhower Wendy's in Loveland, Colorado, Close?
It was in late 2024, that we let you know that Wendy's corporate would be shutting down underperforming locations, beginning with three of the, then, 125 Wendy's locations in Colorado.
It was on March 30, 2026, that I drove by that Wendy's, off of Eisenhower and Taft, and saw workers scurrying around taking down signs and such. I didn't get a good look at what was going on, but when I went there the next day, it was clear that Wendy's had officially closed. They took all the signage away; it was weird to not see that Wendy's sign on the brick podium.
After More Than Four Decades, This Wendy's Will be Missed
There's no way you could "guesstimate" how many people had visited that Wendy's; between locals and tourists on their way to Rocky Mountain National Park, the number has to be in the millions. Generations of Lovelanders had been to that Wendy's; I think the only thing that's been at that corner longer, is the grocery store.

With the Eisenhower Wendy's closing, that leave just three in town:
- On Crossroads Boulevard.
- On Eagle Drive.
- On Rocky Mountain Avenue.
It'll be interesting to see what takes the place of that old Wendy's; will it be another chain restaurant, or might neighbor Arte Pizzeria take the space over?
