Another Popular Local Colorado Restaurant Closed After 40 Years, With A Twist
Colorado bids farewell to another popular restaurant location after four decades of service. This particular closing does have a possible happy ending twist though.
Colorado Restaurant Closes After Four Decades At Current Location
Sadly, in 2023, we've had to break and report on many various closures all over Colorado. From big-box national chain stores like Big Lots, Bed Bath & Beyond, or TJ Maxx, to local colorado owned and operated restaurants, some were seen on TV, or owned by famous people. This particular restaurant has been locally owned and run for the last 40 years, so saying goodbye was pretty difficult for its current customers and staff. However, this closing has an interesting twist that is leaving some happy in the end.
Danny's Carnation Restaurant In Colorado Closed Permanently
This four-decade Colorado favorite, Danny's Carnation Restaurant, permanently closed its door on March 26th, 2023. The final day hosted long-time customers. staff, and friends as they said goodbye to this longtime Colorado family diner. Here's the twist though, even though Danny's Carnation restaurant at 1395 Wadsworth Blvd. is no more, the menu and ownership have moved over to the brand new Danny Ray's just a short drive away at 11353 West Colfax.
Why did Danny's Carnation In Colorado Close?
After doing some digging, the Westword reported that the old restaurant is the future home of an apartment complex, while the new location was the former home of Piflers Sports Bar. Danny has re-modeled the old Piflers from top to bottom and while the name is new, the food and friendly service that you loved at his former restaurant, is alive and well with his new project. Why didn't they just keep the name? Because Danny Ray's will serve alcoholic beverages and needed its own identity. Now that Danny owns this building, it can live on in his family for generations to come.
Danny Ray's officially opened its doors to the public today, April 4th, and from the pictures posted above, it certainly looks like checking out the newly upgraded legacy.
