The man who has written so many great songs has a collection of artwork, as well. If you're a fan of John Mellencamp, or a fan of interesting artwork, this is for you. The exhibit was in Loveland from Nov. 26, 2022, through Feb. 12, 2023.

The exhibit included more than 50 pieces of John’s work, mostly large-scale pieces, but there were a couple of small paintings. Walking through the exhibit, you get a small look into the mind of the multi-talented artist. His loves, his passions, his stances.

I waited until the very last day to view the exhibit at the Loveland Museum. Looking back, I should have gone earlier in its visit and then later to really take it all in. The cost was only $7, an agreeable amount to see what John Mellencamp wants the world to see.

ASSEMBLAGES?

I wasn’t sure what I was going to find when it came to "assemblages," but once I saw them, they made sense. They are pieces of art put together using mixed media. A photo of Meg Ryan is part of one of the assemblages. One assemblage is very large, featuring Muhammed Ali, boxing gloves and more.

FROM 'LITTLE PINK HOUSES' TO BIG PERSONAL PIECES

Growing up in Indiana, John Mellencamp’s Midwestern values come through in art, as well as the values of him being a famous musician and having traveled the nation and the world.  He seems happy about a lot of things but disappointed in just about as many. John’s relationship with Meg Ryan is a part of the exhibit; as they were in a relationship for nearly 10 years, it’s clear that she still holds a place in his heart.

Take a look at the art that John Mellencamp has produced and was in Loveland, Colorado, for a time.
