The man who has written so many great songs has a collection of artwork, as well. If you're a fan of John Mellencamp, or a fan of interesting artwork, this exhibit will be for you.

You may have a "favorite" of his, but after seeing John Mellencamp's "Paintings and Assemblages" exhibit at the Loveland Museum, you may say you have a "favorite" pieces of his art creations.

Recently, Cheech Marin brought some of his art collection to Loveland. This John Mellencamp exhibit (which will be featured in the Main Gallery) will be different, in the fact that where Cheech had collected the pieces of art, John has created these pieces.

John Mellencamp has been painting, as a serious endeavor, since the '80's. At the height of his music career, he was branching out to express himself in other ways. That's just like a mid-westerner: Always working, and working hard.

Large-scale oil portraits and mixed media pieces are what you'll find in his "Paintings and Assemblages" exhibit.

From his website, his art is described as such:

Mellencamp’s paintings are carefully composed through the structural requirements of harmony, rhythm and order, and is thematically in line with the small-town, earnest voice of the heartland.

If you've heard John Mellencamp songs, you know he's skilled at painting a picture with his lyrics; it will be very interesting to see what he can literally paint with his mind and hands. I suspect that the exhibit will be well worth the $7 admission fee.
