Did You Know That Colorado Is Home to a Real ‘Magic Town?’

Yup, you read that right — there is a real place called Magic Town in Colorado. It's not technically a town, but it's definitely worth a visit.

Magic Town is an exhibit at the Michael Garman Museum in Colorado Springs' Old Colorado City. According to the attraction's website, Magic Town is a "miniature city" made of sculptures, holograms, sound effects, and more that create a magical experience.

The museum adds that the late Michael Garman began working on Magic Town in 1975 and called it "a gritty blend of Walt Disney and Norman Rockwell."

Only in Your State notes that Garman based Magic Town's building, alleyway, and sidewalk scenes — which move and change — on his hitchhiking travels during the 1950s and 60s.

"During your visit, you will be transported to a simpler time, complete with intricate homes and buildings, life-like figurines, and state-of-the-art holograms, sounds, and other special effects that bring the Town to life," says Only in Your State.

Footage from Magic Town shows the scale of the exhibit and some of its features, including a mini pizzeria, pool bar, hotel, and movie theater (it's "showing" Casablanca).

Even celebrities enjoy Magic Town — Visit Colorado Springs reports that Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger have collected Garman's work.

Magic Town is open seven days a week and costs $7.50 for adults. Admission comes with a free scavenger hunt.
