As you can imagine, given the threat posed by these beasts, an encounter with a dangerous wild animal in Colorado can be terrifying and, unfortunately, sometimes tragic.

This exact scenario took place recently in Colorado, where an encounter between a couple's pet dog and a mountain lion resulted in tragedy and the loss of the life of the canine companion.

Unfortunately, the dog was killed instantly as a result of the attack, and the mountain lion left the scene with the dead animal in tow.

Following the incident, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Boulder Police Department sought out the wild animal and, upon capturing it, posted the following on X:

It's been said that this was not the first time that the mountain lion made a public appearance in the city's residential areas, as it's been speculated that a mountain lion spotted in a family's backyard near a swimming pool was the same animal.

Experts recommend that, in order to minimize encounters like this, you should never attempt to get close to a dangerous wild animal and should refrain from giving them any access to food, including garbage.
