It's no secret I've spent a significant percentage of my life living under a rock, but I had no idea this Grand Junction confectionary was making national airwaves on QVC.

If you're not familiar with Enstrom Candies, they are known worldwide for their almond toffee and other kosher treats. You'll find their main location at 701 Colorado Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado.

How Often Does This Happen?

I called Enstrom Candies this morning to discuss yesterday's QVC appearance. According to the representative, yesterday's filming was the first in almost a year. As a matter of fact, at 1:40 in the video, the host states this will be QVC's only appearance at Enstrom Candies this year.

What Exactly is QVC?

According to Wikipedia, QVC, which stands for Quality Value Convenience, owned by Qurate Retail Group, is an American free-to-air television network, and flagship shopping channel specializing in televised home shopping.

Digging through Youtube, you'll find close to a hundred videos featuring Enstrom Candies on QVC.

A Local Celebrity

Most of these QVC appearances feature Grand Junction's very own Doug Simmons. You know Doug Simons as the past president of Enstrom Candies, Inc. You also know him from Colorado Mesa University and from the Western Colorado band JT and the Big Dogs. In October 2021, Simons was inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame.

What If They're Not Live On TV?

Looking at QVC's webpage, you'll notice Enstrom Almond Toffee is featured prominently at any given time. At this particular moment, on September 1, 2022, QVC is running 11 offers with Enstrom Candies. For example, you could order Enstrom's 2.3 lbs Petites Holiday Tub for just $40.50, marked down from $42.50. You can even make payments with three easy installments of $13.50.

Awesome Seeing Grand Junction On QVC

The last time I saw programming on QVC, it was Rhonda Shear, Playboy model and former host of "USA's Up All Night," hocking women's underwear. While that's not necessarily uncool, seeing Grand Junction's legendary Enstrom Candies on the channel is spectacular.

You'll definitely recognize the surroundings. Bob Grant loved capturing Western Colorado icons in the shot. Whenever possible, he'd get Mt. Garfield in the background. If Mt. Garfield weren't available, he'd get the Bookcliffs, Grand Mesa, or even the Colorado National Monument.
