The Colorado State Patrol describes 'weather whiplash' as driving under blue skies one minute, and then driving into snow or rain the next. Imagine being on the Kebler Pass looking for color photos and not knowing about a weather risk. Imagine driving the Million Dollar Highway and not knowing a storm was moving in. The risk of an accident goes way up during these weather events when they happen in October.

Colorado October Crash Data

According to the Colorado State Patrol, over 700 vehicle crashes occurred in mountainous areas last October. Most of these crashes were the result of speeding in poor weather conditions. Motorists should be of aware of more than just a risk for rain or snow. High winds in any of Colorado's mountainous areas can create additional risk for anyone pulling a trailer, camper, or recreational vehicle.
