Colorado’s Spring Forecast 2024: Polar Coaster Spring Predictions
Springtime in the Rockies is approaching fast. Colorado is getting ready for the time change coming up on March 10th and the arrival of the Spring Equinox on March 19th.
What kinds of weather will Colorado experience this spring? Let's check out the latest update from the Farmer's Almanac to see what we may be in store for between now and Memorial Day.
Colorado's Spring Forecast
The 2024 Farmer's Almanac says that springtime in Colorado may feel a bit out of sync this year. Cool and wet conditions will dominate the spring season, making it feel like it's taking longer for warmer temps to arrive. The Almanac indicates most of the country will experience a 'Polar Coaster Spring' with cloudy and cool conditions to start the season.
Late snow and colder temperatures may affect portions of Colorado through late April this year. Temps are predicted to warm slowly in May, and the forecast could include some storms that may produce severe weather.
Colorado's Last Frost
The Farmer's Almanac is predicting the final frost of the season around the first week of May. This will be the time when overnight temps stop dipping below freezing. Denver, Pueblo, and Grand Junction can expect a final frost by May 3rd or 4th. Watch for the swan's neck to break up on the Grand Mesa, and you can start tending your garden.
Prepping for Spring Storms in Colorado
Colorado is home to a county that sees more tornadoes than anyplace else in America. Severe weather does happen, so it's a good idea to make sure your family is prepared for it.
This is a great time of year to sign up for weather alerts on your phone, invest in a weather radio, review your communication strategy with your loved ones, and prepare a comfort kit and any cash reserves you may want.
