Several places across the country celebrate Oktoberfest right up to Halloween.  Here in Colorado, Oktoberfest is an event held largely in August and September, and for good reason.

Colorado has a large population percentage with German ancestry so Oktoberfest and Bavarian-style celebrations are not hard to find. What's different in the Centennial State is that some of the largest Oktoberfest-style activities are usually scheduled in August.

Where is Oktoberfest in Colorado?

One of the many recognizable characteristics of an Oktoberfest gathering is a large crowd of people in an outdoor setting. If you've ever spent any time in the mountains in October you can realize why communities like Keystone, Vail, Breckenridge, and Steamboat Springs have wrapped up Oktoberfest by the first weekend of September.

StatisticalAtlas.com says more than 20% of Colorado's residents are of German ancestry. As many as 500,000 descendants from Colorado's original German and Russian settlers may still be living in Larimer and Weld counties today. From 1-day to 3-day events, as long as you don't wait for October you can find lots of Oktoberfest events in Colorado.
