Shaquille O’Neal Out Of Line As He Blasts Star Denver Athlete
While he never played in Colorado, Shaquille O'Neal has always been a beloved athlete in our state. Well, he was, until he publicly rolled over one of our beloved athletes this week on national television.
Shaq Angers Colorado Sports Fans For Comment Made To Star Player
Shaquille O'Neal is one of the all-time greats in the world of the NBA and professional basketball. I've been a Denver Nuggets fan for as long as I can remember, but I loved Sahq as a kid. My dad even bought me an Orlando Magic jersey when I was about 8 or 9.
Not only is he one of the most dominant players to ever dawn the game of basketball, but he seemed like a solid dude off the court as well. Shaq always seems to be doing something for a various charity, or local family, or just finding ways to make people smile in general. Those smiles stopped around Colorado this week with an unnecessary comment the NBA giant made live on TNT...
Shaquille O'Neal Tells Nikola Jokic That He Doesn't Deserve To Be NBA MVP
On Wednesday, May 9th on the "NBA on TNT," the legendary Charles Barkley told the world that for the third time in four years, The Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic was named the NBA MVP. Only 9 people have been given the prestigious award at least three times, so it's a huge deal.
Shortly after the announcement was made, the reigning NBA MVP joined Shaq and the gang, and Shaq poo-pooed on Joker's parade right out of the gate by telling him he thought someone else deserved to win instead of him, as seen in the clip below...
While the Joker handled it perfectly and didn't react negatively to this completely unnecessary comment, had the roles been reversed, Shaq would have lilley lost his mind... Imagine a former player, saying in front of the world that you didn't deserve the prestigious award you just EARNED!
Joker has been the best in the game for years, and frankly was robbed last year and should be a 4 time consecutive MVP. For Shaq to decide to say that, publicly, after inviting Joker on their show to celebrate is hot garbage, and the Denver fans, as well as NBA fans all over, were pretty irate and disappointed with Shaq's out-of-line and disrespectful comments to Nikola.
As of this writing, there has yet to be any sort of apology from Shaq to Jokic, many feel one may be on the way, especially since Shaq is so beloved and looked at so highly. This was plain disrespectful and he's better than this. Here's to hoping the Joker leads the ultimate comeback and makes ol Shaq eat his words. Go Nuggets.
