What’s the Most Popular Vehicle in Colorado?
Sometimes it seems like every other car you see driving on the streets in Colorado is a Subaru, but are these vehicles actually the most popular in the state?
A publication called Road and Truck recently compiled a list of the most common cars nationwide. To collect this data, researchers looked at the best-selling passenger cars by state for 2021. These results were further broken down on a state-by-state basis, in order to determine the most popular vehicle for each place.
Of all fifty states, 32 had pickup trucks as their most popular vehicles. And out of those 32 trucks, 20 were the F-150. Only three states had sedans as their most popular cars. The rest were SUVs or crossovers.
Based on these results, it's actually Ford F-150s that rule the roadways in Colorado. The Division of Motor Vehicles also backs up this statistic based on most active registrations last year. In 2022, there were 94,783 F-150s registered in Colorado.
These powerful pickup trucks accounted for 4.1 percent of all new car sales during the 2021 calendar year. The F-150's impressive towing capacity and all-terrain capabilities make it an ideal vehicle for navigating the state's diverse topography.
According to the Colorado DMV, the Chevrolet Silverado came in as the second most common vehicle in Colorado last year, with 75,375 active registrations. In third place was the Subaru Outback, with 55,936 active registrations.
