There is always road construction happening in Northern Colorado. For some, it affects their drive to work or home every day; for others, it may not be a part of their daily drives. These projects can take months, and sometimes can take years. It can be a burden, and often drivers have to find new routes to avoid these closures and projects, and when they end, it is like a whole new life when it comes to driving around the area. Recently, a street reopened in Northern Colorado, and it is nice to once again be able to drive the road and not have to take a detour.

It has been months since anyone has been able to drive south on Taft in Loveland between 29th and Eisenhower. If going south, you would have to often go out of your way towards Wilson or 287 to get to the southern part of town. Finally, Taft is reopened now, and drivers and residents in the area can get through town a little easier and not have to go out of their way anymore. This project made it tough for those who wanted to get in and out of North Lake Park, since those travelling north were the only ones able to navigate the road. Some may not know it is open once more after avoiding it for nearly half a year. What was it they did, though?

The traffic flow in town will improve drastically with the road being reopened again, but what were they doing all this time? Since December, they have been working in the area improving waterlines and stormwater infrastructure to improve service reliability, increase system capacity and reduce neighborhood flooding during heavy rain events. They were also looking to make some improvements at the intersection of 29th and Taft. The street officially opened last week on June 4. The timing is great for those looking to go to the park this summer, ride the train, or enjoy some time fishing at the park. Residents who live in the area will be thrilled to get to and from their homes more easily as well.
