One night, I was just scrolling through social media when I started seeing these wild videos of cowboys dragging snowboarders in the snow.
At first, I thought this HAD to be AI.
How could something that majestic actually happen in the snow?!?

What Is Skijoring and Why Is It Going Viral?
I did some digging...and by digging, I mean doomscrolling and found out that this is one of the fastest growing winter sports; it's called Skijoring.
Skijoring consists of a horse pulling a skier or snowboarder across some sort of snowy terrain or course.

Why Skijoring Is Growing in Popularity Across Colorado
This modern version of the sport has been rapidly growing in popularity here in Colorado over the years.
There are several major skijor events this winter, one of the biggest ones is actually going down in Estes Park this January.
Estes Park Skijor 2026: Dates, Location, and What to Expect
The Estes Park Skijor will take place over January 23rd through January 25th at the Estes Park Events Complex.
Skijoring Events and Competition Schedule in Estes Park
Visitors can expect to see different Skijor events across various skill levels.
On Friday, January 23rd, the whole weekend kicks off with a novice night. Anyone interested can give it a try. Officials say all you need is to find a rider or skier to partner up with.
Saturday and Sunday is when the pros get to show off. The various Skijor competition events will take place from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM on both days.
There is even a Warming Hut Expo that will open up at 10:30 AM on those days. Visitors can check out the Mountain Shop expo between events.

According to the official event page, local vendors will be set up inside showcasing artisan goods and outdoor gear.
There will also be a kid-friendly Fun Zone that is being hosted by the Estes Park Education Foundation.
