Unfortunately, one popular brand of makeup wipes is dealing with news of a recall from the FDA.

FDA Issues Recall on Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes...Are Colorado Shoppers Affected?

Earlier this fall, the FDA issued the recall and updated it with more information in October with new findings. A Class II recall has been issued for the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes.

What a Class II Recall Means for Colorado Consumers

This sort of recall is described as, "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote," according to the FDA's website.

Bacterial Contamination Found in Makeup Wipes

Investigations uncovered that over 1,300 cases of the product tested positive for some sort of bacteria.

Officials confirm that it might possibly be a bacteria contamination with something called Pluralibacter gergoviae. It can cause infections, especially in people who are immunocompromised.

Complications from coming into contact with the contaminated wipes include sepsis, eye infections, and respiratory illnesses.

How to Identify the Recalled Neutrogena Wipes

The affected lot is Lot #1835U6325A which is printed in light gray on the back of the pouch, and is the 50-count, 25-pack version made with plant based-cloth, according to reports.

States Where the Contaminated Wipes Were Distributed...Is Colorado On The List?

In the report, officials have determined that the main distribution areas include: Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Other states may have received these products, but there have been no reported cases yet in Colorado.

Officials urge people who have received the contaminated product to not use the wipes and to dispose of them safely. You can request a refund at the store that you purchased them at.

These wipes are commonly sold at CVS, Walgreens, Target, and other major U.S. stores.
