According to a recent study from floridarentals.com, the key things you need for the perfect sunset are high clouds, low humidity, clear of smoke, dust, or smog, an open western horizon, water in the foreground, and reliability. When all these combine, you get the perfect sunset. According to the study, the best place in America to catch a sunset is Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake City, Utah, with Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Wyoming being second, and Ocean Lake in Wyoming rounding out the top three. There are a few places in Colorado that made the list, but sadly, none of them cracked the top 25. One of the biggest issues with seeing a sunset in Colorado is that the mountains to the west block the view for part of the process. According to the study, the best place to see a sunset in the Centennial State is Blue Mesa Reservoir near Gunnison, Colorado. The spot scored a perfect 100 in air, 62 for clouds, 98 for water, and 49 for reliability. Some other great spots that made the list are Delta, Colorado, Meeker, Colorado, Aurora, Colorado, and Center, Colorado.
