Depends on who you ask about their preference for gas station pizza and which chain is their favorite, but if their answer is "Kum & Go," then yes, the best gas station pizza ever is finally coming to Fort Collins.

The Iowa-based convenience store and gas station has more than 400 locations across 13 states, many of which are in Colorado and Wyoming. And they've finally been approved by the City of Fort Collins to proceed with developing a new location at the corner of Prospect and Lemay, replacing Hospital Automotive - the city's last remaining full service fuel station.

The chain has been trying to break into the Fort Collins market for some time which has proven to be a difficult nut to crack until finally receiving approval after a virtual public hearing at the end of last year.

In addition to gasoline and other typical convenience store amenities, they also are known for having pizza available pretty much all the time, and not just your run of the mill, dried-out and old slices laying around, but hot, fresh pizza - even made to order if you'd like. You can buy by the slice or even order full pies, but that's not even the best part.

It's the breakfast pizza. The breakfast pizza is the best part. I used to live around the corner from a Kum & Go in Weld County and I can vouch firsthand that it's pretty darn good, especially fresh out of the oven.

No official word yet on when construction will begin or when the new location will open, but when it does, check out the pizza and see if it gets your vote for "Best Gas Station Pizza in Fort Collins."
