‘How I Met Your Mother’ Final Season: ‘Breaking Bad’ Star Bryan Cranston to Return!
Before Bryan Cranston became so commonly identified as Walter White of 'Breaking Bad' or even Hal of 'Malcolm in the Middle,' you could find the actor somewhere across almost any TV series of the last 20 years. Case and point, Cranston's two-episode 'How I Met Your Mother' stint as Ted's boss Hammond Druthers, now announced to be returning for the ninth and final season!
CBS first tweeted out the news of Cranston's 'How I Met Your Mother' return, while The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the 'Breaking Bad' star's reprisal will take place later on the season. For those unfamiliar with the role, Cranston guested on a meager two episodes as Ted's boorish architecture boss, later ending up demoted and undermining Ted's authority.
What would bring Druthers back into the fold for the final season remains unclear, though we know Ted will have his new job in Chicago to consider, while this past Monday's premiere "The Locket" / "Coming Back" proved that the final season has no qualm about jumping back and forth through time, away from Barney and Robin's wedding.
Elsewhere, the final season of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ has recruited such guest stars as returning ‘Karate Kid’ star William Zabka, ‘True Blood‘ star Anna Camp (replacing ‘The Office”s Ellie Kemper), Sherri Shepherd, ‘Revenge‘ star Roger Bart, and Wayne Brady and John Lithgow reprising their roles as Barney’s half-brother James and biological father Jerry.
We're excited to see Bryan Cranston in anything, let alone returning to 'How I Met Your Mother' as his first post-'Breaking Bad' gig, but what say you? What other 'HIMYM' alum would you want to see show their faces for the ninth and final season?
