1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with some form of breast cancer. There is no cure for the disease, so support is the next best thing to the cure, and that is what Hope Lives! The Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Support Center provides. Once diagnosed, women with breast cancer can experience a myriad of different situations. Some are worse than others, but as Melissa Venable, Executive Director of Hope Lives told me in an interview,

There are days when we are in our office and we are in tears...but even in those dark hours...we still want to make sure that they know that there is always hope...there is no cure for breast cancer right now...but we are the next best thing...there is no cure, but there is always hope.

Celebrate Life in the Pink is the annual gala that raises funds needed to continue to serve local women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through the Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Support Center. The services are free of charge and serve many women each year. Tickets to the event, which features very special entertainment, a wonderful dinner, live and silent auction, and a survivor's fashion show, can be purchased at hopelives.org. If they are not purchase online by Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, they can be obtained by calling 970 225 6200.

Check out the effort this local cyclist is making to raise money for the cause as well!
