**UPDATE - February 27, 2025

I received an email after publishing this story from Restaurants of America, in which they set the record straight when it comes to our Colorado Hooters:

Restaurants of America owns and operates 13 Hooters Restaurant locations in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Minnesota.  In reaction to the recent news concerning the possible bankruptcy by franchisor Hooters of America, LLC (“HOA”), has no impact and are separate entities from the Restaurants of America (“ROA”) locations. Restaurants of America is successfully operating our locations.

Colorado has five Hooters spots across the state, from Loveland down to Colorado Springs. Will that number go down to only three (or even none) within a year?

Hooters Considering Bankruptcy - What Does it Mean for Colorado?

It was in the summer of 2024, that we were talking about how we were worried about Colorado's Hooters as over 40 had closed in recent months. Here we are, less than a year later, and the pressure seems even greater.

HMC Hospitality Group, which includes those who initially started Hooters, operates 22 locations and is fighting to get back in control of the restaurant chain.

The Hooters location in Loveland, where I live, went through great renovations in late 2022 after being open since 2006 at I-25 and Crossroads Boulevard. A little over two years after those renovations, we have to wonder if those renovations were "for not."

It all started in Florida in 1982, as a bunch of guys started up Hooters as a "wings" place with skimpy waitress outfits. Has America gown tired of the Hooters "tongue in cheek" operation?

If Hooters Files for Bankruptcy How Will it Affect Colorado?

It was in late February of 2025, that more speculation was out there about how "healthy" Hooters was doing, as it was reported that they were considering bankruptcy.

Sure, just because a company goes into bankruptcy does not necessarily mean the they'll definitely be closing locations, but it also doesn't mean that they'll all survive. Colorado has five locations; they may take a look at all of them and decide that at least one isn't "performing" well enough.

Have People Stopped Going to Hooters?

A coworker and I were in Loveland at around lunchtime recently on a Thursday afternoon, and decided (because it was close) to stop at Hooters. We found the place pretty quiet; even a couple of the wait staff were playing cards.

Again, maybe Hooters will recover, but maybe it's time to let go.
