Grey Rock Trail was one of the areas affected by the High Park Fire. This trail, one of the most highly used in the United States, was closed for the duration of the fire and has just reopened almost 2 months after the fire was contained.

Some areas are charred, others untouched. For anyone who is interested in seeing the affects of the High Park Fire, a trip to the top of Grey Rock is going to give you a good vantage point. An entire mountainsides that is completely burned sits just above Hewlett Gulch trail, popular with mountain bikers. As is shown in the photo gallery above, hay has been laid to prevent erosion, an sections of Grey Rock Trail go right through these spots.

This trail, so beloved by Coloradoans, is still such a beautiful trek into the wilderness, and it is once again, thankfully, open to the public.
