When officers arrived at the apartment, numerous people confirmed that Hetzel was still occupying the dwelling. Additional officers assisted in surrounding the apartment to prevent an attempt at Hetzel escaping. Numerous attempts were made for Hetzel to surrender. When these attempts failed, a search warrant was obtained and Greeley SWAT was called in for assistance.

Apartments near the scene of the incident were evacuated and technical munitions were deployed by the Greeley SWAT Team. Hetzel came out of the apartment and complied with SWAT's demands and taken into custody with no injuries to Hetzel or any of the officers on the scene.

Hetzel has been taken to the Weld County Jain and booked for the outstanding warrant and parole hold.
