Girl in Aurora Approached by Stranger Using “Child Like” Voice
It is a total nightmare for all parents: your child being approached by a stranger in a van. This happened last Friday in Aurora as a young girl walking home from school was approached by a man driving a van. The incident happened near Horizon Middle and Summit Elementary Schools in Aurora.
According to the Aurora Police Department Facebook page, the male driver (40-45 years of age) drove up next to the girl and spoke to her in a "child like" voice. Channel 7 in Denver reports that the man asked her "are you walking home from school now?" using that child like voice. The child's mother was not far and the moment the driver saw her, he sped off.
The Aurora Police Department are treating this as suspicious and are seeking this person for further questioning. According to the APD press release, the suspect is a male between 40-45, a medium build with a possible "beer belly", wearing cap and possibly a blue shirt. The description for the van is grey, possibly a Honda Odyssey or Chrysler Town & Country, a wavy sticker on the back passenger window or rear window.
The APD has a Crimes Against Children tip line at 303-739-6164 if you have any information that can help. Also, for those who wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
