Hope Lives is putting on its 3rd Annual Golfing for Hope Tournament at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Windsor, CO.

The proceeds from this tournament will go towards helping families and individuals suffering from the many side effects of breast cancer treatment.

"Tuned In to NoCo" got the chance to speak with Hope Lives Executive Director, Elise Carver, about the event. Carver says that along with the golf tournament they have some other great things prepared for attendees.

"We'll have breakfast burritos from Raff's Tavern, donated coffee from Starbucks, a taco bar for lunch and we'll have various beverages and snacks and games along the way. We'll also have raffles and a silent auction. We really tried to be thoughtful about how we could make this a fun experience. We wanted to add some value and at the same time have it all go to a very important cause."

Carver says they are still looking for players, sponsors, volunteers and silent auction items, and she wants you to know that their goal is to make it worthwhile for everyone involved.

"It's important to me that it is a win win for everyone. So, maybe it's a small business and you'd like some exposure with a nice silent auction item — that's great. Because then it still goes to a very important cause. So if there is any kind of interest whatsoever, we can absolutely find a spot for you."

Hope Lives partners with various support services and products, and Carver says these services are completely free to those dealing with breast cancer.

"We partner with various providers in the community to make our neighbors feel better when they are going through treatment because it's just such an arduous, challenging time...We just give them a list of our providers and we say, here you go. Here's free self-care money. You decide whatever you want to do with it."

From counseling to nutrition and mastectomy supplies, Carver says they are there to help anyone in need, and they even have free prosthetics and wigs available.

"We have a small repository of gently used wigs, prosthetics and various other things that past clients wanted to donate...We will give those out for free. We just had a gal the other day. A single mom. Doesn't have any family here. She was wearing a baseball cap. Wouldn't really look at us — she wasn't in a good place, and she left with the most beautiful wig and she put that baseball cap in her backpack."
