You Need to See the Great ‘Snowy’ Names that Schoolkids Gave to These Colorado Snowplows

One of the great things about living in Colorado is getting all four seasons. Some may not love the cold and snow that comes with winter, but it's just a reminder of how beautiful the state can be, year-round.

With snow, comes the need for snowplows to clear the roads so that we can curse having to go to work, or to school, or to the store. These drivers work early hours and long hours to helps us all out, and we're grateful.

The City of Fort Collins had some fun with local schoolkids, having them give names to six of their plows.

Known as the "Frost Fleet," six of the city's snowplows are given names with the help of Poudre School District students. That must be a fun day at school, coming up with "winter-related" names; the city takes it pretty seriously though:

The Frost Fleet showcases our team's hard work and helps our youngest community members understand the importance of the services we provide, all while having some fun and using their creativity.

They started with 120 submitted names, pared that list down to the top 20, and then the drivers, themselves, made the final decision on the six that would don the side of snowplows for the 2024-2025 season.

Nearly all of the six trucks/plows have "menacing" names, since they'll be out there "fighting" the snow on the roads; one is a dog (sort of.) It will be fun for the kids who named the snowplows to track them throughout the season, after a big "dumping" of snow.
