‘Family Ties’ Actor Brings Wounded Warrior Comedy Show to Loveland

He played 'Skippy' on the hit TV show Family Ties, is now out on the road helping wounded soldiers perform stand-up comedy, and will soon be stopping in Loveland at a local brewery. 

Dratz Brewing Company in Loveland will be hosting a special comedy show, 'Skippy & the Comedy Warriors Tour,' on Thursday, October 10.

According to the Reporter-Herald, the show started after 2013 with the release of the documentary Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor. The film focused on wounded soldiers who were teamed up with big-league comics to develop a stand-up routine for comedy showcase.

Marc Price, who portrayed 'Skippy' on Family Ties, has been doing stand-up for a while now and after seeing the documentary, he came up his idea to help take the Comedy Warriors on tour. During the tour, he planned to show them the ropes of what it takes to book shows, manage travel, and prepare sets as an on-the-road comic.

Two of the warriors from the documentary will be at the show on Thursday: Joe Kashnow, who lost a leg in the Iraq war, and Bobby Henline, who was the only survivor when his Humvee was hit by a roadside bomb, burning nearly 40% of his body. The Wounded Warrior Project put them in contact with the Comedy Warriors project.

At Thursday night's show, Dratz will be showing the documentary at 6:30 with the stand-up comedy show beginning at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $26 in advance, $30 at the door.
