Colorado Cool: Rescheduled Erie Hot Air Balloon Launch Weekend – July 14-16, 2023

Though the original dates of June 9-11, 2023 had to be postponed due to the horrible rainy start to June, Erie has bounced to new dates in July - July 14-16, 2023.

Erie, Colorado, has gone and turned its annual hot air balloon launch on its ear, in a good way. For 2023, the event will get its very own weekend, at a new location.

By giving the Hot Air Balloon launch its own weekend, Erie can concentrate on the annual Erie Town Fair being all that it can be. The Colorado mountains will be in clear sight, as the aircraft take to the skies for three mornings.

There are about 30,000 people that live in Erie; most living in the Weld County portion with some living in the Boulder County portion. Whichever county, everyone in Erie will be getting geared up for the 27th Annual Hot Air Balloon Launch.

Hot air "ballooning" dates back to Paris in 1783. 240 years later, not a whole lot has changed when it comes to the excitement and majesty of watching the crafts get inflated and then take off into the skies. Do you remember the very first time you saw one take off?

Erie's annual Town Fair will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in their Historic Old Town Erie area. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with food, vendors, live music, a beer garden, kids' activities, and more. When it comes to the annual balloon launch, they decided it was time for a change.
