Elderly Colorado Couple Made Pact to ‘End Their Lives Together’

On October 5, we shared the story of Leroy and Stella Vigil, a couple in their early 70s who were mysteriously shot on a popular hiking trail in Colorado Springs.

Police left us with nothing more than, “there is no danger to the community and detectives do not anticipate any arrests as a result of this investigation”.

This led us to believe that the couple was not attacked but that a potential murder suicide had taken place.

According to investigators, those suspicions were correct. On Monday, police confirmed that the Vigils had made a murder-suicide pact and planned to die together, as reported by KOAA.

The couple was first considered to be 'missing persons' that went for a hike, until their bodies were found near the Edmundson trailhead in Colorado Springs on October 3.
