DOC’S POD: Realities for Children and the Realities Ride and Rally
For 17 years, Realities for Children has put together a huge rally and party in downtown Fort Collins on Memorial Day weekend. Back in the early days, there were about a 100 bikes and a few hundred people gathered around and enjoying a weekend. It has grown to 15-thousand bikes and riders and the world record for the size of their poker run. They have two days jammed packed with music, stunt shows, car shows, raffles, free apple pie, and honoring our military. This event is for everyone, not just those on motorcycles.
The weekend is also about helping children who are in need. Kids who are neglected, abused, or in an at-risk situation. Realities for Children is there for them every day and every year. The Memorial Day weekend rally benefits Realities for Children and their efforts to help these kids and provide them with hope and a path to a good and productive life.
I got to sit and chat with Craig Secher, the Executive Director for Realities for Children. We talked about the organization and their reach and efforts to help children get the assistance they need, and we talked about the Realities Ride and Rally. Lots of in-depth info in this conversation.
