Disease Infects Patrons at a Northern Colorado Restaurant
A rare disease that only strikes five Coloradans per year has struck three people after they ate at a local fast food restaurant.
Typhoid fever struck the victims at the Qdoba Mexican Restaurant located in Firestone right off of Interstate 25. While more could've been affected, officials in Weld County can only confirm three. The bout with the disease occurred at the end of the Summer and health officials say the minor outbreak may already be over so there should be no cause for concern.
Typhoid lives in intestines and bloodstream and most people contract it after traveling to a developing country where the disease is more common.
Symptoms include:
- A fever up to 104 degrees
- Weakness
- Stomach Pains
- Headaches
- Loss of Appetite
A rash can also develop with flat, rose colored spots. The staff member who originally tested positive for the disease no longer works for the company.
Health officials say that if you ate at the Qdoba in Firestone and believe you may have symptoms of Typhoid to please see a doctor immediately.
