Many other cities like Chicago and Washington D.C. come to mind when you think of cities full of rats, but what about Denver? I have spent many, many late nights in Denver and I don't recall ever once seeing a rat. Not at all. I know there are rats in the state of Colorado, but I've never seen one in Denver.

How is it that I have never seen a rat in the Mile High City and yet Denver is rated one of the top 10 worst cities for rats in the United States? Am I oblivious? I don't think so. Generally, I am pretty aware of my surroundings, so seeing a rat scurry by would capture my attention.

Pest control company, Orkin, states that Denver ranks 9th on their Rattiest Cities list. Other cities that have a worse problem than Denver include:

  • Detroit
  • Philadelphia
  • Baltimore
  • San Fransisco
  • Washington D.C.
  • New York
  • Los Angeles
  • Chicago (ranked the worst)

According to Orkin, the list is compiled by metro regions by the number of rodent treatments in both residential and commercial structures between the dates of September 2020 to September 2021.
