Spring Forward This Weekend in Colorado
This Saturday night into Sunday morning, our clocks automatically 'spring forward' marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of Daylight Saving Time.
If that sounded funny to you, that's because you're probably used to saying or hearing Daylight SavingS time (plural, with an S) - but that's not correct!
As we set our clocks ahead an hour this weekend, or more appropriately as our 2020s devices automatically set themselves an hour ahead this weekend, the beginning of Daylight Saving Time is an annual reminder that warmer weather, lake days and BBQ's are on the way.
Of course the whole point of it is to give us all an opportunity to make better use of the working daylight hours without having to get up an hour earlier. For those saying we should permanently stay in Daylight Saving Time, I absolutely agree. Nobody likes driving home in the dark at 5:00 like we do in December.
The average sunset at the moment is around 5:55 PM. This time next week it will be right around 7 PM, marking the first time this year sunset has occurred after 7. And amen to that.

The downside is that you'll have to remind yourself (and your kids) that it's bed time because it won't feel like it for a few weeks until we adjust.
The clocks won't fall back again until the end of Daylight Saving Time and the beginning of Standard Time, which happens this year on November 1st.
Until then, enjoy the extra little bit of sunlight each day and get ready for summer, because it's coming!
