A mountain lion kitten is on the mend after Colorado Parks & Wildlife officers rescued her in southwest Colorado last weekend.

According to CPW, multiple calls came in from residents in the Vallecito Lake Area, reporting that the young cat was walking up very close to homes, hanging out on porches and looking into glass doors.

CPW officers were table to track and capture the kitten. She was then transported to a licensed rehabilitation facility in Silt, Colorado.

Officers said that when the kitten was located, it was in poor body condition and had to be given an IV and antibiotics.

Fortunately, after an entire day of not eating, the young lion finally at an entire rabbit, and officers believe she is now on the path to a great recovery.

The baby mountain lion will spend the rest of the winter at the rehab facility, and will be released back into the wild in the spring.
