Nasty: Is Your Colorado Costco Vodka Tasting Funny? You’re Not Alone
What Coloradan doesn't love to save money on their favorite drink of choice? It's when you go to drink that beverage, and you find out that it's "gross," that you feel ripped off.
Kirkland products have been a part of Costco since 1995; nearly 30 years of saving Coloradans and Americans lots of money on all sorts of things. The Kirkland label has saved us tons of money, with "knock-offs" that generally taste as good as the name brands. Most of the time.
That tasty, tasty, Kirkland alcohol. So cheap, and so enjoyable. Costco carries a wide variety of bottled "booze," including two vodkas: Their French Vodka and their Signature American Vodka. That American one is the culprit of a recent string of unpleasantness.
WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE KIRKLAND VODKA IN COLORADO?
Those who have purchased that Signature American Vodka between June 12, 2023, and August 10, 2023, and haven't tasted it yet, may be in for a rude surprise when they do crack that bottle.
According to Better Homes & Gardens, Costco issued a notice about that vodka on August 15, 2023, after complaints from customers about its taste. Note that it's not a recall, because there's nothing unsafe about the nasty-tasting vodka.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS VODKA THAT TASTES SO BAD?
Costco didn't say, only that the product within the 27 affected lot codes does not meet their standards of quality. However, According to Better Homes & Gardens, a Reddit user claims that some rum got mixed into those batches by mistake.

You can take it back to any Costco for a refund. You can find the 27 lots that were affected here, but I'm betting they're being more than accommodating, and won't be real sticklers about it.
