A distillery in Fort Collins that pleased the palates of many locals and visitors to town for over 10 years has closed. A decade of great spirits and vibes has come to an end.

CooperMuse Distillery of Fort Collins, Colorado, Announces Closure

There was always something special about hitting up CopperMuse for a drink, a little food and a lot of fun. That was up until the summer of 2024, when they closed down their tasting room and restaurant in Downtown Fort Collins.

Jason Hevelone and Heather Trantham met as engineering students at CSU in the fall of 1988; they married in 1993 and opened CopperMuse in 2014.

They kept creating their specialty rums, whiskeys, vodkas, gins and other spirits, but announced in early February of 2025, that they'd be closing down the distillery all together.

We are beyond grateful for every one of you who supported our dream of bringing a craft distillery and cocktail tasting room to Fort Collins. To the *142 incredible employees* we’ve had the pleasure of working with—thank you for being part of our journey. And to the Northern Colorado business community, your support and encouragement meant the world to us.

It's tough to run any small business: the hours, the costs, the overall stress of keeping things afloat. Being established for ten years, the husband and wife couple that owned CopperMuse had garnered awards and respect for their spirits.

Though Colorado is known for being a "craft beer crazy" kind of state, there are dozens of distilleries across the state as well. Just the same, we're going to miss CopperMuse a lot.
