Cop Protects and Serves Woman’s Food After Arresting Delivery Guy
It's always nice when you catch something good on your Ring Doorbell camera, and one woman's encounter with a police officer in Sioux Falls, South Dakota has gone viral for all the right reasons.
In a video first posted by the Facebook page Tea Storm Chasers, an organization dedicated to chasing storms and monitoring police scanners, Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Buhr was recorded as he rang a woman's doorbell with an unexpected delivery. Actually, to be fair, the delivery was expected, but from a different delivery man.
Turns out the Door Dash driver who was en route to her house with her food was pulled over for a traffic violation, and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Or as Officer Buhr put it, "some things he didn't take care of."
In a true example of "going the extra mile," the police officer grabbed the bags of food and drove them the rest of the way to her house, completing the delivery. The exchange was caught on her doorbell camera, then shared on social media. The woman who answered the door and the officer shared a good laugh and before you know it, quick as he arrived, he was off to protect and - especially - serve the community once again.
The ironic part is you wouldn't expect the local police department to serve the residents quite in this way, exactly, but a spokesperson for the Sioux Falls PD told multiple media outlets in a statement, "While delivering food is not a normal part of police work, helping people is." That alone makes it a feel good story, though maybe not for the delivery guy.
Seems to me this would have been the perfect opportunity for Officer Buhr to drop the line: "Just doin' my job, ma'am." But viral kudos from social media users around the world will have to suffice.
