Coopersmith’s ‘Poolside’ Makes Amazing Return to Old Town Fort Collins
After more than three years, Old Town Fort Collins saw the return of a great pool hall that had closed in the fall of 2022. Coopersmith's Pub & Billiards (formerly 'Poolside) is like having an old friend back in Colorado.
How Long Was Poolside Open in Old Town Fort Collins?
Coopersmith's Poolside was open, across from the pub, from 1993 until September of 2022, when they decided it was time to shut down the pool hall. In 2024, the new owner of Coopersmith's made the call that they should bring the pool hall back.
One Big Change is How the Pool Hall is Smaller
During the time that Poolside had closed and the new owners wanted to bring it back, the building had been divided up, and part of it had become a Downtown location for Visit Fort Collins, Maybe that made the decision easier: a smaller space could be easier to manage.
In April of 2026, Coopersmith's Pub & Billiards pool hall opened to the public. My brother and I finally made our way down there a couple of weekends later; we'd been big fans of Poolside and were eager to see how the "new Poolside' would look and feel. It, again, felt like seeing an old friend; an old friend who'd "gotten some work done."
New, Yet Very Familiar, at Coopersmith's Billiards
While smaller, the main pool hall looks very similar to how it looked as Poolside, the difference being that it doesn't go back to the east like it used to, as that's where Visit Fort Collins is. You'll find shuffleboard and darts in the main room, Skeech in the south side, and board games in the north side. They still make pizza in there, too.

My brother and I had a great time, coming back to the pool hall. It's great that we can order domestic beer, and not just Coopersmith's craft beers. The way they did the décor, with black-and-white photos of famous people playing pool, is great, too.'
